This role exists to support Theatre Royal’s mission and strategy by contributing your skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver excellent outcomes for the organisation and our audiences.

This role assists with press and media communications activity to ensure Newcastle Theatre Royal maintains a high profile in local, regional and national print, broadcast and online media to maximise coverage for our creative programme, events, hospitality offer and corporate activity. You will contribute to the development of effective media relations and communications campaigns including identifying opportunities for media stories, developing appropriate messaging and understanding of the target audience.

Key Responsibilities

Role specific

  • Support delivery of media relations campaigns including writing and distributing press releases, syndicated interviews, sourcing and distributing images, distributing what’s on listings, assist with setting up interviews, photo-calls and filming opportunities.
  • To organise press and promotional events.
  • To be responsible for collating and evaluating media coverage generated on behalf of Newcastle Theatre Royal; to highlight relevant stories, activities and articles relating to the regional cultural sector and the arts/theatre industry more widely.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of media contacts to support the Theatre Royal’s creative programme and wider social and corporate activities.
  • To support in the production of impactful communications materials.
  • To assist with the maintenance of Theatre Royal and The Green Room websites including generating high quality editorial content which is consistent with other media and communications activity.
  • To maintain good contact with visiting production companies offering support where appropriate.
  • To maintain an up-to-date awareness of all aspects of the Theatre’s activities, as well as the wider arts and culture industry.
  • To work with other members of the Marketing team to ensure all media communications activity is coordinated within wider campaign activity and communicated effectively within the department.

The salary is £27,825 for this role.
